PORTFOLIO

Nia’s project 'Zero : Formations' is based on the idea of building garments from a single repeated shape, the rectangle, in a way that creates zero waste. Rounded, swirling shapes are achieved from the rectangle and are formed on the body, drawing from the sculptural and botanical references of Tony Cragg and photographer Karl Blossfeldt. The repetition of shape is inspired by repetition found in nature. The silhouettes aim to capture an organic energy and movement, such as when a new leaf unfurls. Nia’s collection is knitted across 7, 10 and 12 gauge Dubied machines and linked along finished edges.
